The region of Murcia enjoys one of the most temperate climates in Spain. The coast
of Murcia stretches 250km from the populated warm waters of the Mar Menor down
to the quieter beaches of Las Aquilas and is popularly known as Costa Calida,
the Warm Coast.
Murcia is still developing in comparison to its neighbouring regions of Valencia
and Andulucia, making it the perfect discovery with its relatively lower house
prices and miles of unspoilt coast line and charming villages.
The undulating rise of the mountains lends a hand to spectacular scenery. Take
a car, walk or bicycle through the Sierra Espunas, Murcia’s national park
and simply enjoy the serenity and breath-taking views.
The Mar Menor, a salt water lagoon, is the regions most populated resort area
due to it’s long stretch of beach and calm, warm waters which makes it
popular with tourists and locals. The well renowned resort of La Manga hosts
trendy bars and clubs and is frequented by footballers and pop stars.
With an average temperature of 21 degrees annually, for the beginner or the
avid golfer, Murcia can offer all year round Golfing with more Golf Resorts
being developed further inland.
Discover the historical City of Murcia with its noticeable Moorish architecture
and the city's impressive Cathedral. Unlike many other cities in Spain, the
city of Murcia although energetic with hustle and bustle, still enjoys a relaxed
and leisurely attitude. The city comes alive in the early evening where you
can enjoy a drink at one of its many bars and cafes or browse the shops.
Inland towns and villages including Mula, Pliego, Bullas, Cehigin, Caravacca,
Totana, Alhama de Murcia and many more, are growing in popularity with the British
as more and more are attracted by the charm and laid back attitudes of the Spanish
and choosing to adopt the Spanish lifestyle.
Moving south of the region, Lorca is both steeped in history and charm and
is increasing in popularity.
The main coastal towns of Cartagena and Puerto de Mazzaron are both attractive
and lively for holiday makers with its fair share of hotels and holiday homes,
tourist sites, bars and shopping along an extensive stretch of coast line.
